These are the money shots,
• Fairways Hit
• Green in Regulation (GIR)
• Scramble
• Putts
• Score
• Handicap
These stats are nice to have for golfers for all levels. After a few rounds you will see just where you can improve. Whether you re a serious golfer or competitive golfer, you need to keep track of these stats. If you are just a recreational golfer, then you can focus on improving in your weakest areas.
Set goals for yourself. Number of putts is a good starting point. Fewer than 30 putts are attainable for most golfers and with 28 putts or less and you can go on tour.
Everyone can set some goals, like taking under 30 putts per round. Sounds simple, but you need to do it. You would be amazed how many putts you actually take when you keep track of them. This is an easy area to improve if you know what you are doing.
How many fairways do you really hit? If you are long and wrong, maybe this will help you focus on more accuracy. You can find the happy middle ground.
Scrambling is one of the money shots. The other money shots are driving and putting. How you handle yourself from inside 100 yards in a key to scoring better.
Scrambling is area that separates the golfers at every level, even the top pros. The better you can get it up and down, the better you will do. It doesn’t matter what level you are. This is the key to golf at every level. My Stroke Tracker will help you keep track of the shots in this critical area.
So, set your goal at 50% to start and see where you stand.
Chipping is something that is vital to your success for scoring lower. What happens when you are 5 yards off the green? Are you successful in converting into a one putt green? Are you using the right club? You can try chipping with an 8 or 9 iron instead of the sand wedge and see how that works.
How often do you convert your sand saves? Even one more sand save per round will help in your scoring ability.
Pitching from inside 100 yards is another vital scoring area.
Driving Accuracy is the last money shot. Long and wrong doesn’t cut it. You need to hit your approach on the short grass. This category is vital is becoming a better player no matter what your level is. Tiger Woods won the Memorial Tournament with 100% accuracy in this category. We’re not Tiger and we probably will not achieve 100% in anything, but you can achieve 75%.
